How we review the content

Last updated: 27 October 2026

Bocadito deals with a sensitive topic: what a baby eats. So we want to tell you, plainly, where what you see comes from and where its review stands.

Current status: medical review pending

Bocadito's content has not yet been reviewed by a doctor. Until it is, we label it "Medical review pending", both in the app and on this site.

A doctor will review every food page, every recipe, the Safety guide, and the first aid content before we call them reviewed. When that happens, we'll say so here with her name, speciality and the date.

In the meantime, this site doesn't publish pages of medical content: no food pages, no safety guides, no calendars. Those pages will arrive once they've been reviewed.

Editorial policy

Bocadito's texts are written and edited by the Bocadito Team. Whoever edits is responsible for what is published.

Nothing we publish is medical advice or a replacement for your paediatrician. It's general information about feeding babies and young children, meant to support you day to day.

Sources we consult

We write from public guidelines issued by health agencies and scientific societies. This is a list of what we consult, not an endorsement: none of these organisations reviews or endorses Bocadito, and some of the app's rules are stricter than their guidelines.

Depending on the country, we consult, among others:

  • Spain: Spanish Association of Paediatrics (AEP), Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN), European Resuscitation Council (ERC), ESPGHAN.
  • Mexico: Ministry of Health (NOM-043), along with WHO and AAP guidelines.
  • United States: American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP), CDC, NIAID.
  • United Kingdom: NHS, Resuscitation Council UK.
  • Germany, Austria, and Switzerland: BZfE and Netzwerk Gesund ins Leben, ESPGHAN, national resuscitation councils.
  • France: ANSES, Santé publique France.
  • Italy: Ministero della Salute (Ministry of Health), ESPGHAN.
  • Brazil: Sociedade Brasileira de Pediatria (Brazilian Society of Paediatrics, SBP), Ministério da Saúde (Ministry of Health).
  • Japan: Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW).
  • South Korea: Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).
  • Taiwan: Health Promotion Administration.
  • In every country: World Health Organization (WHO).

How content is reviewed

  • A draft is written from the sources above and checked against Bocadito's rules.
  • The Bocadito Team compares it with the cited source.
  • A doctor reviews it. Until she does, it stays marked as pending.
  • Translations will be reviewed by a health professional who speaks that language, because a literal translation can change the meaning of a safety rule.

Use of artificial intelligence

We use AI to help draft and translate text, and to generate some illustrations. Everything goes through review by the Bocadito Team, who answer for the result.

AI-generated images that haven't been reviewed yet carry the label "AI · placeholder". We'll replace them with real photos later on.

Inside the app, when a dish has no Bocadito recipe, Apple Intelligence drafts a suggestion on your iPhone or in Private Cloud Compute, Apple's private cloud. Then we check it against Bocadito's safety rules and, if it doesn't meet them, we don't show it to you. It always carries the label "Drafted with AI"; review it before serving.

Corrections

If you spot a mistake, an outdated source, or something that doesn't seem right, write to us at support@getbocadito.com. We read everything. You can also tap "Report a mistake" inside the app.

We fix anything that's incorrect as soon as we can and, if the change matters, we note it with the date.

If it's urgent

If your baby is choking, isn't breathing well, or has a severe reaction, don't write to us: call your local emergency services right away.
